Entry 3: Serra Club Altar Server Awards
This month the Serra Club of Columbus will be soliciting the names of the top 8th grade altar server in each parish of the diocese. Serrans promote vocations through prayer and action. The servers are chosen based on comportment, dedication to duty, appearance, knowledge of assignments and willingness to accept added responsibility. The medals used to be presented in the servers parish churches, but the club has had a diocesan ceremony with the bishop presiding, for the past few years. The awards are named for John Igoe, a founder of the club. The following is a partial list of award winners from St. Mary starting in 1970 with; William Leddy, Ronald Natrop, Daniel Campbell, Mark Federer, Robert Koch, Michael Federer, Daniel Leddy, George and Bertha Lyons, Matthew Felice, Richard Hilsheimer, Stephen Campbell, Tim Dorn. Eric Vogel, Kevin Boyner, Peter Wickham. Do you know who one of the first winners was in 1957? I do. Please pray for vocations.
